Sledding in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park

Sledding in Rocky Mountain National park is not just for kids.   This is one of the amazing things to do that takes your breath away not only because of the natural beauty of the park but also because the sledding trails are world class thrilling.   Bundle up for a day of winter activities and family fun.

Hidden Valley Snow Play area is the only place in Rocky Mountain National Park open to sledding and downhill sliding on snow.    Sleds, saucers and tubes are welcome on the fenced hill for winter activities.   Call 970-586-1206 for the National Park’s information line or the Estes Park Visitors Center at 800-44-ESTES for the latest snow reports.   Many stores in Estes Park offer equipment rentals for visitors who don’t have your own tubes or sleds.

Remember to pack gear for all types of weather (sun, snow, wind) keep in mind that strenuous exercise at high elevations requires that you stay well hydrated and use lots of sunscreen.

Winter visitors to Colorado’s mountains often forget about this winter wonderland of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.   It is only a short drive and doesn’t involve going over any mountain passes.   Accommodations in the winter are very reasonable and the shopping and dining will surely make you want to return many times throughout the winter.
